Attention Marina Members, Boat Owners, and Tall Timbers Residents and Friends
You are all invited to join the Tall Timbers Community in celebrating its 9th annual Parade of Lights on Saturday December 3rd, 2011. Activities include the Tall Timbers Boat Parade of Lights and the Riverfront Property Decorating Festival. Decorate your boat or river side of your property (yard/dock/house) in the holiday spirit. Once the parade has returned to port, everyone is invited to The Reluctant Navigator Restaurant at Tall Timbers Marina for the annual pot luck reception. Friends and families are encouraged to bring their favorite holiday delicacies to share for a fun holiday party. And what is a Christmas celebration without Santa Claus? So don’t forget to bring the kids.
Registration will be from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m., contestants of the land and boat decorating will meet at the Tall Timbers Marina House for their parade assignments and ballots. The boats will be judged by the riverfront participants and the riverfront will be judged by the boaters. Those participating in the boating parade are asked to arrive at Tall Timbers Marina by 4:30 and departing time will be between 5:00 and 5:30 pm. The parade will leave Herring Creek and travel southbound on the Potomac to the Piney Point Landings, then return to Tall Timbers Marina. Bonfires will be set at the mouth of both Herring Creek and the channel of the Landings, marking the beginning and the end of the parade route. The community is encouraged to gather at Tall Timbers Marina around 6:00 pm to watch the return of the fleet and then proceed into the restaurant to begin the reception. At this time ballots will be passed out and the judging of the People’s Choice Awards will take place. Concluding the night will be the announcement of the People’s Choice Awards and the awarding of prizes.
